The wire that should accept been included with your Tortoise^™ switch motorcar!

The wire that is included with Tortoise switch machines is 0.022" in diameter. While this works OK for commercial turnouts that take not been installed and ballasted, it tin can show to be a chip flimsy for hand laid switches once they are installed and ballasted in place.

This wire is 0.037" in diameter and is the perfect size for paw laid switches. It will transmit aplenty power from the switch machine to the switch points, but is not then strong that it damages the throwbar. This size wire can be hard to find, and usually a compromise has to be made resulting in wire that is too strong and can break the solder joints at the throwbar.

Each piece is 12" long.

Of import Note: Exercise non cut this wire to length using your Rail Cutters! Be sure to use a hardened pair of side cutters instead.

I use the Tortoise beneath the track by nearly 2.five inches. The wire that came with the switch machine had no adventure of throwing my HO scale #five and #6 switches. These wires accept the forcefulness to throw the switch. It is wonderful that Fast Tracks caries these "accessories" for the wonderful turnout edifice jigs.

This product has worked for me just fine. I wanted to make a transmission throw for my N scale turnouts. I was able to craft a bound from this material and will use it make custom throw bars to connect to a manual lever. The size is perfect and the material can be formed to the shape needed and remains rigid where appropriate.

Had lost a couple of Tortoise throwbar wires whilst amalgam a new model railway, searched the internet and found .037" throwbar wire. In operation the Tortoise functioning is much more positive and somewhat better than the original supplied wire. Glad I found them.

I purchased this wire for my Tortoise switch machines because parts of my layout base are 2" thick and wanted a stronger wire to operate them. I like that the wires are 12" long and so I tin get the length I need to operate the turn outs along with the larger bore.
